  I am writing to say what an awesome dentist Mike Smith is at Holladay Smiles. I had an infection in a tooth and went to my regular dentist. The infection was due to a root canal where a file broke off in the root when the procedure was done. I was told that I would probably have no issues because the body would adjust. I went back to the office that did the root canal and they sent me to an endodontist. He did not want to mess with the tooth because of the file that was lodged in the root. I told him that I would prefer he just pull the tooth because I was in so much pain. He gave me an antibiotic and referred me back to my original dentist. I went back and by this time the infection was so severe that I could barely swallow. My nodes were swollen in my neck and under my tongue was huge. When I got there, they said they could not pull the tooth because “no dentist would be able to numb my mouth with that much infection”. They changed my antibiotic to a stronger one and handed me a hand full of cards for an oral surgeon. I was able to make a consultation appointment for the next week. In the meantime, my face and neck were getting bigger and the pain was awful. I slept sitting in a chair because it was hard to breathe. My niece told her dentist, relative, what I was experiencing, and it immediately raised red flags to Mike Smith, DDS. He told her to have me call him immediately. I called him on his cell while he was at home and explained the situation over the phone. He said you do not have the luxury of waiting until next week for your oral surgeon appointment. This infection can become life threatening. I was concerned because I was told that an infection like this made it impossible to numb the area. Dr. Smith said that is entirely incorrect and that it was very necessary to get the tooth out immediately before I ended up on the hospital on IV antibiotics with a possible life-threatening situation. He drove from his house and met me at his office and removed the tooth, and did a follow-up procedure to reduce the infection. When I returned for him to remove the drain device that he added to drain the infection he told me that when I came in I was in a very serious health risk situation had I not been seen that day rather than waiting for the five days for my oral surgeon appointment. He is amazing. He is very up on procedures. He didn’t have to take his personal time to drive into his office after hours. He truly cares about people. I feel like he may have saved my life (who knows).

  I like most people have a fear of the dentist, so much so I haven't been for 7 years. Dr Smith was great to work with, he's passionate, caring and so easy to talk to. Whitney is, well perfect. She was able to ease me in to my shots and I didn't even feel them. My cleaning went great and I was comfortable the whole time. I finally found my dentist for life.

  I love coming to Dr Michael Smith office , i live 35 minutes away but i go to his office because he is very good and he really cares for his patients . He takes the time to explain procedures.
